Daoud Haroon was artist in residence in the mid-1970s, followed by Dick Griffith and later Bill Lowe, who came around 1980 and stayed until 1990. Anthony Braxton came in 1991.

Higgins literally became a legend in India for giving highly skilled concerts of the local classical music; to this day, stories circulate around his name. It was not easy for Higgins to be far away in South India, as he says in a letter to Winslow; it is from Jon’s third year abroad, a long time to be away from Wesleyan, but clearly worth the effort: Thanks for remembering me, way out here!
